Pic Kids

A fun, creative, versatile tool for teacher and student!

I created a picture collage as one of my artifacts I sent to Common Sense Media for my Digital Citizenship certification.

First grade students used Pic Kids to create a collage all about themselves, then shared with their class by loading it to Seesaw.

The #creative kids in the after-school class used Pic Kids to create Lego build cards and backgrounds for their green screen book recommendations and animal facts!  So many skills rolled into these projects:  build & deconstruct, research with PebbleGo, Britannica Encyclopedia and World Book Web and writing.

Tech integration fun

I just love the versatility of Padlet!  Teachers can setup a FREE account and create all sorts of walls or backgrounds for students to share to.

For example, my second grade students just discussed "website that are right for me" as part of their Digital Citizenship unit in library media.  We talked a lot about green light websites and then generated a list of our favorite websites, that are just right for kids.  Students added their favorite green light website to our "Green Websites" wall.

We are also using Padlet to showcase our videos from Hour of Code. So easy to use and easy to access. Padlet lets students quickly and easily share their work.

School is back in session!

The 2016-2017 school year is off and running!  Lots of tech catch up to get us moving forward as a district and getting to know the kids in their new grade levels.  Fun activities to get the kids thinking of Library Media time as more than just books.  LM is books and tech integration and writing and creating and individual work and team work and more!

3rd grade kicked off with an emoji writing activity and started a shared Wall of Happiness!
2nd grade set reading goals and shared them on Padlet wall.
1st grade is celebrating Dot Day and making their marks....sharing these next week.
K5 enjoyed Toni Buzzeo's The Library Doors book and we talked about good ways to take care of our library books.

Unplugged Library Time

For our last library, we're going unplugged.  I don't have confirmation if our iPads are being sold off before end of the year or not, so erring on the side of caution and going no-tech this last week!

Board games, unplugged coding and puzzles, oh my!
